Dear Donor Family,

I’m writing today to express my gratitude, for through the selfless actions of your family, my sight has been restored.

Before my transplant, my eyes were in a complete fog all day and all night. I had to give up so many “normal” activities. I couldn’t see to write a check, go grocery shopping on my own, and without my sight, I lost my freedom as I couldn’t drive my car. My family had to take care of almost everything for me- I couldn’t even see the print on my prescription bottles to take my own medication.

Now, after my transplant, I can do all of that and more. I love sitting on my porch on rainy days and reading a book, and your loved one’s generosity has given me that joy back. I am finally able to help my family take care of my grandchildren. Reading to them has brought me so much happiness. I also love baking and working in my garden, and now I have the confidence to do it all

again, and even try new hobbies! I can’t express how grateful I am to enjoy these precious moments.

Being able to return to the activities that I love to do is a wonderful feeling. I am so very grateful to you and your loved ones for making my life enjoyable again. I know someone very special to you was responsible for my gift, and that recognition makes me very emotional. I offer you my deepest condolences, and I hope you can have some comfort now knowing that your loved one’s gift has made such a profound impact on my life.

Thank you again for your precious gift,

-Elizabeth
